Pediatrics
Pediatrics deals with the care of
infants and children in good health
and illness, and all aspects of child life and development.
The trend in pediatrics emphasizes health and fitness,
moving away from a concentration on treatment of diseases
and toward prevention of disease and disability. Pediatricians
have concern for the total emotional and social well-being
as well as physical health. Pediatricians treat children
in accordance with each one's individual level of development.
After medical school, three to five years of additional
training is required to become a pediatrician.
