Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a specialty consisting
of many different facets. Its broad scope ranges from surgical
repositioning of the jaws to improve function and aesthetics, to
preprosthetic surgery, which prepares the jaws for dentures,
to the removal of impacted wisdom teeth. The specialty
also surgically treats tumors in and about the oral and
maxillofacial complex, as well as bone and soft tissue injuries
resulting from trauma to those areas.
