Skilled Nursing Care Unit
If an illness or injury
has required you to stay in the hospital for at least
three days, you may reach a point in your recovery where
you no longer need to be hospitalized yet you aren't
physically able to care for yourself at home. It would
be appropriate for you to receive skilled care, or continuous
treatment post hospitalization that requires the services
of a registered nurse around-the-clock and usually includes
extensive rehabilitation. Our 18-bed skilled nursing
care unit, located on the fourth floor of the Medical
Center, offers specialized care for these situations.
Our compassionate nurses and support personnel work
with staff physicians to determine the best treatment
plan for each patient. Because your needs are special,
your treatment plan will be developed with your specific
needs in mind. An activities director, social worker
and rehabilitation personnel are available as needed.
Our caring staff will provide services to you until
your condition is stable or your rehabilitation potential
is reached and you are ready to go home or to another
setting for additional care.
Some examples of problems suitable for care on our skilled
nursing care unit include:
-
wounds that are not
healing well or need special care
-
pain management
-
IV or nutritional
therapy
-
recovery from major
surgery, joint replacement or vascular or abdominal
operation(s)
Patients usually stay
on the skilled nursing care unit less than 10 days.
