| When
you need to be hospitalized because of an illness
or injury or after undergoing surgery, you want
to be close to family and friends and cared for
within your own community. That's exactly what you
will find from the caring and attentive nurses and
other clinicians who staff our Medical/Surgical
Services.
Medical/Surgical Services are provided on the third,
fourth and fifth floors of our Medical Center. Our
third-floor unit serves patients of all ages and
includes pediatrics, oncology and adult medical/surgical
needs. Our fourth-floor unit serves orthopedic patients
and other adult medical/surgical needs. Our fifth-floor
unit serves those patients requiring cardiac monitoring.
Many times, patients discharged from our critical
care unit are transferred to our fifth floor for
continued monitoring in close proximity to the critical
care unit.
Our nurses are highly skilled to help patients recover
from illnesses, injuries or surgeries so you can
be discharged home or transferred for further care.
If you are hospitalized because of a new illness,
such as stroke, diabetes or congestive heart failure,
our nursing staff will educate you and your family
on managing that illness during your stay and at discharge.
Many of our nurses also are certified in the specialty
in which they work in addition to being certified
in resuscitation and other advanced skills. They
work closely with specialized physicians to provide
optimal attention and compassionate care to patients
and families.
