Our Surgical Services Department
consists of a 10-bed pre-op holding room, six major
operating rooms, three endoscopy suites and one cystocopy
room. Our recovery area is comprised of three areas
totaling 29 beds.
|
In addition, we offer a Pain Management Center and a
pre-admission office, which is staffed separately. These
areas are all conveniently located on the same floor along
with our family waiting area. More than 9,000 procedures
are performed at our facility annually. The scope of surgical
services includes all major specialties except neurosurgery
and cardiothoracic surgery.
Patient populations: We perform both inpatient
and outpatient surgery as well as laser surgery. Our patient
mix ranges from pediatrics
to geriatrics. We perform most types of surgery except
neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery.
Number of patients seen daily: 35
Work environment: Fast-paced, team-oriented, patient-focused,
using the latest technology and cutting-edge procedures.
Skill mix: Our RNs scrub for surgery and also
circulate among patients. We also have certified ORTs
and LPNs who are ORTs. Our staff works closely with board-certified
surgeons and anesthesiologists as they perform a variety
of surgeries, ranging from simple to complex procedures.
Our recovery areas are staffed by both RNs and LPNs who
monitor patients and prepare those who have had outpatient
procedures to be discharged home. Our immediate post-op
recovery area receives surgical patients directly from
the operating room. Our secondary post-op recovery area
receives sedation patients. Most of our outpatient surgical
patients are discharged home from this recovery area.
Our extended stay recovery area receives outpatient surgical
patients whose recovery requires extended observation
or surgical patients who have undergone invasive procedures
depending on which unit they work.
Other information about the units: We maintain high standards
of quality patient care and take a personalized approach as we deliver
that care to our patients. All recovery services nurses must be certified
in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support
(PALS).
