As
a nurse at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center,
you will find many resources available to assist
you in providing optimal patient care as well as
meeting your continuing education requirements. The
resources available to you include the following:
Nursing Library with Internet access
In our Nursing Library you will find numerous
resource materials to assist you in researching
diagnoses and preparing educational material for
your patients. The library is equipped with a computer
that includes access to the Internet.
Advisory Board assistance
Through a contract we have with the Advisory
Board, you may seek assistance as necessary to
receive current research and information on providing
the best practice for the care of your patients.
Networks with area colleges
To help us ensure that quality health care
is available, we work closely with colleges in
the area to develop and grow our base for nurses.
We work cooperatively with Central Kentucky Technical College in Danville and Somerset, St. Catharine College in Springfield, Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond (which has an extension campus in Danville), the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Midway College and Kentucky State University.
Continuing education
We value education among our nursing professionals and encourage
our nurses to continue their education after they begin working
for us. Starting R.N. compensation rates are based on degree – A.D.N., B.S.N., M.S.N. or Doctorate. We will also adjust your work schedule to
your class schedule to further assist you in furthering your education.
Tuition reimbursement for "hard-to-fill" positions
While you are employed with us and continuing your education, we will reimburse you for the tuition you pay if you have maximized all student loan options. Reimbursement percentages are based on actual costs of enrollment
at the University of Kentucky.
Student loan repayment
When you accept a position with us, we help you to pay off the student
loans you incurred while pursuing your nursing education. We will
pay 25 percent of the tuition loans per year for full-time Associates,
15 percent per year for part-time Associates and 10 percent per
year for flex employees. The percentage is based on the University of Kentucky’s tuition rate.
Extra pay for certification
Because of the value we place on your education,
we will reward you when you successfully earn special
certification and work in the area in which you are
certified. We pay $1 more per hour for up to two certifications for nurses who successfully meet the specified credentialing requirements of the American Nurses Credentialing Center and other approved organizations. We will also reimburse you for the expense to take the credentialing exam.
