If you think you may be interested in a nursing career, our Medicaid Nurse Aide program can help you get started. Our Associate Education Department offers the Medicaid Nurse Aide class several times a year. This class is now a prerequisite for RN and LPN students.
Classes are scheduled in 2010 as follows: March 1-24; April 12-May 5; May 31-June 16; August 2-25; and October 18-November 3.
The classes meet each Monday, Wednesday and Friday for three weeks and then Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the last week, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The course is 76 hours and includes a 16-hour clinical component. The schedule for the classes beginning May 31 and October 18 is different. That class will meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for three weeks.
Medicaid Nurse Aides provide personal care to people of all ages in various types of healthcare settings. They usually work under the supervision of other healthcare professionals. Some of the duties include: taking and recording patients’ temperature, pulse and respiration; assisting patients with getting in and out of the bed; and assisting with patients’ personal hygiene.
If you are interested in enrolling for our Medicaid Nurse Aide program, please call (859)239-1600. The cost is $625.00, which includes a book, workbook and CPR. Upon completing the course, students must take their state boards, which is included in the cost. If you are hired by Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center within twelve months of completing this course, your course fee less cost of books ($75) will be refunded to you after completing the new Associate three month probation period. |
